Clean Energy Collaboration Kuching
|On March 15th and 16th, 2019 a coalition of civil society organizations will bring together government officials, international and local energy experts, industry representatives, and grassroots communities to discuss concrete pathways to achieve economically and environmentally sustainable energy systems that address energy poverty and energy needs for development in Malaysia.
The goal of the conference will be to inform and align stakeholders on renewable energy strategies for Sarawak and Malaysia. The conference will take place at the Pullman Hotel in Kuching and will feature key Malaysian officials and local and international experts.
Poor energy access poses health, education, and economic challenges that are well documented, yet approximately 120 million people across Southeast Asia still don’t have access to electricity.
In Malaysia, rural electrification and energy demand growth for industrial and city household use are two of the big challenges. Similarly recognized are the environmental and health issues caused by utilizing fossil fuels and large infrastructure projects to meet these energy needs.
The Clean Energy Collaboration, Kuching will bring together diverse stakeholders to explore how Malaysia and Sarawak can address utility-scale and rural energy needs through renewable and sustainable practices.
We invite interested civil society, energy policy experts, industry, government and student representatives to attend the Clean Energy Collaboration Kuching. Early bird tickets are available between now and and January 20th. Space is limited.
